To keep your car running at peak performance, you have to maintain it properly and consistently. No one would expect a car to run well without regular tune-ups, oil changes, new tires, and so on. The same principle applies to email lists. The work a list requires is far from over once it's compiled. A quality list needs real-time authentication, domain verification, and daily updating in order to deliver the best results.
That DMD has the best-performing physician email list in the industry isn't happenstance; it's the result of our continuous and meticulous email validation and maintenance process. The secret sauce is how we source our email addresses from qualified publishers and organizations. Confirmation from multiple sources enables us to identify the HCPs' preferred primary email addresses.
Vetting HCP Email Addresses with a Five-Step Validation Process and a Welcome Email
We scrub every healthcare professional (HCP) email address through a rigorous five-step validation process. During this process, we:
- Match the address to the HCP. We ensure the email address belongs to an actively practicing HCP.
- Determine the HCP's medical affiliation. We conclude to which group practices, hospitals, universities, etc. the HCP belongs.
- Verify the domain. We ensure that the portion of the email after the "@" symbol matches the physician's clinical setting.
- Deliverability. We test the email address to make sure our messages don't bounce.
Once we're determined that an email address meets our quality requirements, we send a welcome email that allows HCPs to opt out of the email list or change their preferences. This ensures that your messages are going to people who want to see them.
Ongoing Maintenance: DMD Constantly Updates and Expands its List
Through our many sources, we continuously add authenticated email addresses and domain names to our database. We also delete email addresses immediately as they become non-functional. Every month, we deploy emails to the "who's who" of pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and other healthcare companies to test email responsiveness and update our database. In the event of non-deliverable email addresses, also called hard bounces, we reconfirm with secondary email service providers (ESPs). If we receive hard bounces using both ESPs, we consider the address bad and eliminate it the same day.
Multiple addresses for Individual HCPs with a Performance-Scoring System
We regularly manage multiple addresses for each HCP and assign scores to each address based on its performance. DMD bases this score on opens, clicks, and engagement (action taken). If we find an address that is underperforming according to our standards, we swap it out for an alternative email address in our database. When one email address consistently fails to perform – such as with low response rates – and another is performing well, the address with the higher score will become that HCP's preferred address.
Our email addresses are constantly compared to databases from other vendors. However, these databases don't come close to the volume and validity of the DMD database. We have email addresses for more than six million HCPs and 450,000 organizations. More importantly, our addresses consistently have higher deliverability, open, and click-through rates with the highest coverage (about 90 percent). Our processes create the authenticated list you need to achieve blockbuster results for your next campaign.
